Haryana Shining, India Rising.

An evening at my residence in Delhi with Haryana's Asian Games athletes, the young men and women behind our state's 32 medals, 14 of them gold.

I competed in skeet at the 2002 Asian Games myself, so I know something of what it takes to stand on that line.

Sitting and listening to this generation talk about their training, their setbacks and what they are aiming at next was the best part of my day.

Haryana keeps producing champions. Our job is to keep backing them.

हरियाणा के गाँव के किसी 16 साल के पहलवान को आधुनिक खेलों की ज़रूरतों के लिए अपना राज्य न छोड़ना पड़े।

हम दशकों से चैंपियन पैदा करते आ रहे हैं। अब समय आ गया है कि हम वे स्पोर्ट्स साइंटिस्ट, कोच और फिजियोथेरेपिस्ट भी यहीं तैयार करें जो इन चैंपियनों का निर्माण करते हैं।

इसलिए मैंने खेल मंत्रालय के समक्ष यह प्रस्ताव रखा है:

📍 कुरुक्षेत्र, हरियाणा में राष्ट्रीय खेल विश्वविद्यालय का एक क्षेत्रीय केंद्र / आउटलाइंग कैंपस स्थापित किया जाए।

इसके लिए किसी नए कानून की आवश्यकता नहीं है। 'राष्ट्रीय खेल विश्वविद्यालय अधिनियम, 2018' की धारा 5(1)(v) विश्वविद्यालय को भारत में कहीं भी क्षेत्रीय केंद्र स्थापित करने का अधिकार देती है। ढांचा पहले से मौजूद है, बस एक फैसले की जरूरत है!

A sixteen year old wrestler in a Haryana village should not have to leave the state to find what modern sport demands.

We have produced the champions for decades. It is time we also produce the sports scientists, the coaches and the physiotherapists who build them.

I am hopeful of the @YASMinistry 's consideration.

That last one matters to me. Wrestling and kabaddi have been refined over centuries in our akharas. They now deserve laboratories, not just nostalgia.

Three institutions, one city, and road and rail links that serve the entire northern region.

So here is the proposal I have placed before the Ministry:

An Outlying Campus / Regional Centre of the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐮𝐫𝐮𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐚, 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐚.

This needs no new law. Section 5(1)(v) of the National Sports University Act, 2018 already empowers the University to establish regional centres anywhere in India.

The framework exists. What it needs is a decision.

Haryana sends 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐥𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 than any other state in India.

Wrestling. Boxing. Athletics. Shooting. Kabaddi. The medals come home to our villages.

But the science that produces those medals is not available here. For sports science, rehabilitation and advanced coaching, our athletes still look outside the state, and often outside the country.

Yet the nearest and only campus of India's National Sports University is over 𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐤𝐦 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲, in Manipur.

Hence, I wrote to Hon'ble Sports Minister @mansukhmandviya ji proposing we change that.

हमारी बेटियाँ खेल के मैदान से लेकर हर क्षेत्र में अपनी उत्कृष्टता और साहस का परचम लहरा रही हैं। महिला एथलीटों का यह जुनून और आत्मविश्वास ही सशक्त समाज का आधार है।

'नारी शक्ति' के इसी सामर्थ्य से ही 'विकसित हरियाणा' और 'विकसित भारत' का संकल्प सिद्ध होगा। सभी आयोजकों, खिलाड़ियों एवं क्षेत्रवासियों को हार्दिक बधाई व शुभकामनाएँ!
