The Indian Express’ @IndianExpress Ritika Chopra @RitikaChopra__ wants you to look at 14 objections, but not the larger picture.

Her report heavily amplifies internal notes raised by two Election Commissioners over 10 months, creating a narrative of institutional dysfunction. But the ECI has officially responded, pointing out that selectively highlighting internal observations while ignoring its wider decisions, reforms and nearly 40 new initiatives gives only “one part of the picture.” The Commission also said decisions taken over the past year were unanimously approved by the Full Commission.

So the question isn’t whether those objections existed, they did. The question is why present selective internal notes as the whole story while conveniently sidelining the institution’s larger response and record?

When context is selectively presented to fit a ready-made political narrative, is that journalism or narrative-building dressed up as journalism?
