@DanielLinton@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 If you can't win the ethical argument, why do you find it a personal flaw, in this case, for someone else to align their actions with their ethical beliefs?
@UnlikelyContent@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 And far more of those animals have to die harvesting plants to feed animals that feed humans. If you want to reduce your crop-death impact, you'd go vegan.
@groatswerth@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 Theist morality is: old man in book liked this thing (such as slavery and stoning people to death) = good, so I'm now taking it as objective moral truth
@UnlikelyContent@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 Because some people believe being directly responsible for the needless suffering and death of young, sentient beings is immoral.
@I_Knew_It_Was_U@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 To harvest honey sometimes bees are kept captive, or sometimes the queen bee has her wings cut off or is kept in a clip to prevent her from leaving a hive so workers stay. Either way, it's against veganism because it's technically exploiting animals.
@jslinky@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 How many things are killed to harvest food for things that are killed for food? More. A lot more. You want less crop deaths, go vegan
@groatswerth@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 "I only do good things if sky daddy tells me to. And one of those good things is causing suffering and death needlessly to hundreds of his sentient creatures."
@DeadStarLegacy@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 You don't know how it's possible to just not eat cheese or drink milk? You've done the hard bit. Have soya milk or oat milk. Have fake cheese or get much better calcium and protein from seeds/nuts and leafy greens.
@crowley_k@rickygervais@yellowbelly8 Because animal agriculture requires far more agricultural land than crops do? Studies suggest we'd only need about 25% of global agricultural land if everyone went vegan. Less water, less crops, no animal ag spaces.
@ohfuggDD @BakiAdithya@mishraverse Why couldn't you just humanely kill a human then? What would be immoral about shooting someone in the back of the head without their prior knowledge?
@cade1792@monkeybones@blaiklockBP@waitrose@RupertLowe10@RobinTilbrook Everyone who debates a vegan conveniently gets all their meat from a "local", "high welfare" farm. Buzz words. 90% of meat consumed in the UK is factory farmed, and it's unlikely the other 10% had a good (and definitely not a long) life either.
@cade1792@monkeybones@blaiklockBP@waitrose@RupertLowe10@RobinTilbrook Meat isn't usually high in calories. I always find it funny when people ask me "how do you eat enough calories" on a vegan diet... No one's eating 1,000kcal of chicken breast. If most of your calories come from meat, you have an unhealthy diet (not just an immoral one)
