In Russia the root of the problem was the RBMK had a positive void coefficient and graphite moderation. In Japan they didnt have robust enough turbine driven injection pumps and the emergency diesel generators were below the flood line so when they got taken out it was only a matter of time for decay heat to build until it melted down. No US plants have any of these design flaws. In fact they had major modifications after Fukushima to install injection connections at numerous locations that allowed emergency auxiliary injection.

Some interesting (and potentially useful) info: Elon acquired the stock ticker “X” back in February. It was the ticker for U.S. Steel for over 100 years. Most people assumed it was being held for SpaceX’s eventual public debut.
Fast forward to now: SpaceX just went public under the ticker SPCX. This adds weight to the theory that Elon plans to consolidate all his companies under the parent company X. It could also help him hit several of his CEO performance pay tranches.
If SpaceX and Tesla eventually merge, TSLA shareholders would automatically get equivalent value in the combined entity.
