The global debt crisis has never been worse.

Japan now has a gross government Debt-to-GDP ratio of 204.4%, the highest among any major world economy.

Italy follows at 138.4%, while the United States stands at 125.8%, which is only below the ~132.0% record set during the 2020 pandemic.

At the same time, France’s gross government Debt-to-GDP ratio is 118.4%, while Canada’s, China’s, and the UK’s are 110.7%, 106.9%, and 103.6%, respectively.

By comparison, Germany is the only major economy below 100.0%, at 64.6%.

The current average among advanced economies is 108.2%.

The world economy is drowning in debt.

BREAKING: The number of restaurants in New York dropped ~2,000 YoY in Q1 2026, posting its largest YoY decline in at least 36 years.

This surpasses even the worst contraction recorded in any quarter during the 2020 pandemic.

The number of eating and drinking places in New York State has now declined YoY for 4 consecutive quarters, its longest streak since 2021.

This comes as restaurants are facing surging operating expenses, including insurance premiums, wages, interest rates, utilities, and health coverage, with overall costs rising faster than national averages.

Last year, employee health insurance costs jumped +12.9% for New York-area service firms, business insurance rose +7.0%, while utility costs surged +8.5%, according to the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce.

Skyrocketing costs are crushing New York restaurants.

Do not, under any circumstances, start trading stocks with serious money before you have developed a proven trading edge.

I sometimes see traders starting with six-figure or even seven-figure accounts despite having almost no real trading experience.

- Losing tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars
- Blaming the market for their losses
- Searching for the next holy grail

Having $100,000 or $1 million in your account doesn't make you a professional trader.

It just means you have more money to lose.

Start small. Learn risk management. Study thousands of charts. Develop a repeatable trading strategy.

Only increase your trading capital once you've demonstrated that you have an edge.

Your first goal shouldn't be to make a million dollars.

It should be to learn how to trade without losing the money you already have.
