Sadhguru uses a very simple analogy to explain why death needs preparation.

Suppose you want to go from the Yoga Center to Coimbatore city. It is just 30 kilometres away. You simply hop on a bus and go. You don't book a seat ten days in advance. You don't pack a huge suitcase, lunch and a water bottle. If there is no transport, you might even walk it.

But if you are going on a long journey, you book tickets, you take food and water and everything you might need.

And if you are going to Antarctica? You take just about everything with you.

Now here is the point that lands hard.

Compared to the journey after death, the journey from your birth to death is just the short hop to Coimbatore. The time a being spends in an embodied state is nothing compared to the time spent disembodied.

Yet look at how people prepare. For this short life, endless preparation. You have bought enough clothes for three lifetimes. Footwear for eight lifetimes. A whole accumulation of things.

But for the journey after death, the longest journey of all, most people make no preparation whatsoever.

Why does this preparation matter so much? Because when a being is disembodied, whether the experience becomes heavenly or hellish depends largely on how one dies. And dying well is not something you can suddenly arrange in the final moment. It is built across a lifetime.

The destination shapes the preparation. Knowing where you are actually going changes everything about how you pack for the trip.

Most people are packing as though life is the whole journey.

It is only the ride to Coimbatore.

The real journey begins where most people think it ends.
