You reject separation of church and state while claiming to defend the Constitution?
Establishment Clause: ‘Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.’
Jefferson: ‘a wall of separation between Church & State.’
1797 Treaty of Tripoli (ratified by Senate): US government ‘is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion.’
The Founders wrote it that way on purpose.
Washington crossed the Delaware in freezing sleet and ice. His men endured Valley Forge in one of the harshest winters on record.
A summer thunderstorm and some mosquitoes on the South Lawn?
We don’t care. The overhang keeps the octagon dry, the protocol is in place, and the fights go on.
That’s how Americans have always done it. 250 years of freedom doesn’t cancel for weather.
Let’s roll. 🇺🇸
On this day in 1777 the Congress resolved that the flag of the United States should consist of thirteen stripes, alternate red and white, with a union of thirteen stars in a blue field representing a new constellation. May that banner ever remind us of the harmony required among the states and of the virtue and attachment to liberty which alone can preserve its blessings to ourselves and our posterity.
Even as Governor you couldn’t do this. Only the Florida Legislature can change ballot access rules (FL Const. Art. VI §1 + Ch. 99, F.S.). Requiring debate participation to get on the ballot would be unconstitutional compelled speech under the 1st Amendment (Wooley v. Maynard, 430 U.S. 705 (1977); Anderson v. Celebrezze, 460 U.S. 780 (1983)). No state does this—it’s not within your power.
@NBA_NewYork Respect for Kornet, but the rest of them have no class. The only reason they came close in any of the games was because of the horrible officiating.
