not stuff from six months or a year ago that you still like, like I mean ancient and embarrassing shit that you made before you knew what you were doing, share it with others and have a laugh over it

I think its genuinely important to you and your friends to remind yourself how far you've come, especially when it feels like you aren't improving

but, more so, I think its even more important for the other artists around you who are still learning

when you're surrounded by the people whose art you admire, its really easy to assume they were always that good. seeing their old work reminds you that they had awkward phases too, made the same mistakes, gone backwards sometimes, and have had to learn all this stuff one piece at a time, just like you

sometimes the most encouraging thing you can show a beginner artist isn't your best work

have some ancient doodles of mine from over a decade ago, you may notice that I still use a lot of these characters today
