Hello, I’m Syl and I got to be part of the design process of Hiro’s 2.0! I’ve known Hiro for a long time so putting in mind her previous theme and current, I took a lot of inspiration research from Astronomy to incorporate into her new design!

I really wanted to add aspects of black holes which are integrated into her limbs and especially “Green Pea galaxies” which I incorporated into her hair design! I also wanted to color it in a way that felt ethereal, hence also adding in aspects of aurora borealis.

With the idea of her being a “dying star” I wanted her color palette to be darker! I also loved added the aspect of galaxies so I wanted to give the feeling of floating stars by making her skirts and sleeves transparent.

For her jewelry I added rings to represent Saturn, which is a planet consisting of ice and rock (which is what I felt like represented Hiro. Cool, punk, etc). Shes also much taller and Saturn is the second largest planet (have you seen her mahongas?).

For her mic design, I was very drawn to the idea of trapping a black hole in a vessel. Taking inspiration from Gravity Fall’s scene where they held the globe that contains an inter-dimensional rift!

While her initial design process does vary from her final, I’m still very happy to be able to see lots of parts and aspects that we got to keep into her final rendition. I’m very honored to have been part of the process! Please check out Hiro’s 2.0 as she’s worked so hard on it! Also incredible work from Aeliz for bringing our beloved Hiro a brand new look!
