Taraji P. Henson says that after the Oscars night in 2008—for which she had been nominated—had passed, her phone stopped ringing; there were no invitations for roles or anything, and then Tyler Perry called, offering her the lead role in the film ‘I Can Do Bad All by Myself’
“I remember when I got nominated for the Oscar, you know, the Oscar run is crazy. The phone is ringing. You got to be here. You got to be there. And then the day after the Oscars, the phone stops ringing. It's weird because it's like your nervous system is shocked because you're so used to going in and all of a sudden, nothing. And all the best invitations and all the things. Gone. No phone calls. You know who called me? This man right here [Tyler Perry]. For a leading role, not supporting. A leading role. People started asking me on my team, ‘why are you going to do a Tyler Perry movie?,’ No one called to offer me a number one position in the film. He did. And then told me what to ask for. Gave me a quote when I didn't have a quote.
And so to this day, I don't care how big I get. I don't care how many awards I win. Whenever he calls, I'm there.”

They didn’t come for land first.
They came for what made a people whole.
What you were taught:
Colonizers took territory.
Empires expanded.
Wars were fought.
Land changed hands.
What actually happened:
The British didn’t just invade the Ashanti.
They demanded the Golden Stool,
a sacred symbol believed to hold the soul of the people.
Not to protect it… To sit on it. To dominate what it represented.
What happened next:
When leaders hesitated, one woman didn’t.
Yaa Asantewaa stepped forward and led a resistance against a global empire.
Consequence:
The war was suppressed. She was exiled.
But the British never captured the Golden Stool. 🇬🇭
Bob Marley was once asked if there was a perfect woman. He replies:
“Who cares about perfection?
Even the moon is not perfect, it is full of craters.
The sea is incredibly beautiful, but salty and dark in the depths.
The sky is always infinite, but often cloudy.
So, everything that is beautiful isn't perfect, it's special.
Therefore, every woman can be special to someone.
Stop being "perfect", but try to be free and live, doing what you love, not wanting to impress others”
Ok. So you hear this woman is going to do a pole dancing routine and you’re instantly turned off. But then…
wait for it.
I promise.
Trust me.
This is worth watching. You have learned to trust me by now. Right?
