The Curator and SMAA were glad to welcome Mr George Spencer to the Museum today to receive a copy of his autobiography detailing his life lessons from his time as an Army PTI in the 1940s.
OBJECT OF THE MONTH
August's OOTM is the board which was used for course photographs at the Hong Kong Physical and Adventurous Training Centre 1971-1997.
Sorting through a huge pile of photographs and other archive material left to the Museum by Major Jim Wood a few years ago. Here are some nice images from the collection.
It was great to welcome ex-SMAA Barry Lillywhite to the Museum yesterday to hear some of his memories as a two-time Olympian. You can hear these in the gallery whilst looking at the blazer he wore at the 1972 Munich Games
New in the Museum
Many thanks to Sgt (SI) Sanju Kerung RAPTC who donated his kukri to the Museum. Sgt Kerung transferred into the RAPTC from RGR in February 2021, believed to be the first #Gurkha to directly transfer from that Regiment since its inception in 1994.

Many thanks to ex-SSI Bob Pearce, his brother Jim and wife April, who built and donated this fantastic model of Brown gym in the days when it was used for gymnastic training to the Museum, as well as giving a very generous donation.
