Her name is Rohini Sindhuri.

She is a 2009 batch IAS officer posted in Karnataka.

In 2018, she was the District Collector of Hassan. She discovered illegal sand mining happening every night from the rivers in her district. She stopped it.

Local politicians were furious. They went to the Chief Minister.

Within days, she was transferred out of Hassan.

She fought it in the Karnataka High Court. The court ruled her transfer was illegal and ordered the government to reinstate her.

The government reinstated her.

Then transferred her again.

She went back to court. She kept going back to court every single time the system tried to silence her.

Between 2018 and 2023, she was transferred seven times. Each transfer came within weeks of her exposing something.

She never stopped working. She never stopped filing cases. She never stopped showing up.

India has a system where honesty is punished with transfers. Rohini Sindhuri refused to accept that as her final answer.

She is still in service today.

अब मुझे ये नहीं समझ आ रहा कि कौन फ्री स्पीच को कुचल रहा और कौन समर्थन कर रहा ?

Saw the news of the achievement by India in Quantum. This is coming after the achievement in Nuclear recently. Our ISRO, DRDO, startups and companies are creating great tech. So I want to warn again: India needs to take cyber security and spying seriously.

It is in our culture to be trustful and take it easy when it comes to security. From how criminals are handled to how corporate networks are secured to how Chinese cameras are installed in critical places - all show our apathy in this area.

People once mocked me and laughed when I said China and the US will start stealing tech from India. We are forgetting that India has always been the land of innovators not copiers. Even so much of US IP and innovation has been created by Indians.

So as India develops, invests more in science and tech, enables its startups and innovators, we will see amazing tech come out of India. And the world will want it hook or crook. India needs to create a national mission to secure our tech, orgs, companies, and their IPs.

GoI must be involved. And should not let this managed by private companies and orgs themselves. There must be proactive measures to help secure every company and govt org against cyber and physical infiltration threats.

A Madurai court today sentenced nine Tamil Nadu cops to death in the 2020 Sathankulam custodial deaths case, calling it “rarest of rare.”

On 19 Jun 2020 in Sathankulam, Thoothukudi, P. Jayaraj (60) was picked up for keeping his shop open past lockdown hours.

It was a petty violation, something that would normally attract a fine. Instead, he was taken to the police station and beaten. Word reached his son, J. Bennix (31), who came to the station.

When Bennix arrived and saw his father already assaulted, he protested and argued with the police. That confrontation became the turning point. Instead of de-escalating, the police turned on both of them with far greater intensity. What followed was not sporadic violence but sustained custodial torture. Through the night, both men were stripped and repeatedly beaten with lathis. Eyewitnesses later described continuous assault: blow after blow, hour after hour, targeting not just the limbs and back but also lathis forced into their rectums. The violence was methodical and prolonged, not a sudden burst of anger. Their blood was splattered across the station walls, and they were made to clean the floor of their own blood multiple times.

The next morning, they were taken to a govt hospital and, shockingly, declared “fit” for custody despite requiring changes of six lungis due to profuse rectal bleeding.

They were then produced before magistrate D. Saravanan, who remanded them to custody without examining their condition or speaking to them directly, citing COVID protocols. He reportedly stood on his balcony while police surrounded the injured men below and, without following basic safeguards against custodial abuse, signaled the police to take them away. The two were then sent to Kovilpatti sub-jail, about 100 km from Sathankulam. Both died within the next few days.

This wasn’t some distant, dark chapter from history. This happened in 2020, just a few years ago, out in the open, without fear of law, backlash, or consequence. And that’s what makes it worse.

Police brutality is routine, not an exception. For every case that shocks the nation, there are countless others that never surface. Many don’t report because they fear the very system meant to protect them. Social media occasionally forces attention, but justice shouldn’t depend on something going viral. Sadly, this will continue because governments are apathetic towards police reforms.

In view of the West Asia crisis, the central excise duty on petrol and diesel for domestic consumption has been reduced by ₹10 per litre each. This will provide protection to consumers from rise in prices. Hon. PM @narendramodi has always ensured that citizens are protected from vagaries of supply and costs of essential goods.

Further, duties have been imposed on exports of Diesel at ₹21.5 per litre and on ATF at ₹29.5 per litre. This will ensure adequate availability of these products for domestic consumption. The Parliament has been notified about the same.

Dear @letsblinkit, your Ambulance service is a lifesaver indeed. Jist this morning, a classmate of mine requested for an ambulance in Gurugram. It arrived in 4 minutes and his mom was in the emergencybward of a hospital within 20 minutes.
Both the paramedic attendants and the driver were topnotch and took excellent care of the patient.
After the formalities in the ER were done and the patient stabilized, her son went out to thank the ambulance guys, only to find out that they had already gone.
Two minutes later he got the scolding of his life from his wife for not giving them any token of thanks, especially since the ambulance service didn't charge anything. He had no idea and had just assumed that the charges would have been paid when his wife had booked the ambulance!
On that note, you may consider adding an option on your app for a token payment and perhaps a rating system for your ambulance crews after the job is completed.
They are a lifesaver indeed.

In India, it is not uncommon for senior ministers, and bureaucrats to have immediate family members who are foreign citizens or living abroad, and this is generally considered normal.

China takes a very different view. There, the term “naked official” is used for party cadres who live in mainland China while their spouses or children reside abroad.

The Chinese govt considers such officials more vulnerable to pressure or coercion from foreign states. For this reason, the CCP has imposed several restrictions to discourage the practice. Officials classified as “naked” are barred from sensitive positions such as the military, diplomacy, finance, national security, confidential posts, and key leadership roles.

Restrictions apply to their families as well. Spouses and children of such officials are not allowed to hold real estate abroad or shares in overseas entities, and they cannot open accounts in foreign financial institutions unless there is a legitimate reason, such as study or work. Even when children of such officials study abroad, they are expected to return to China within six months of graduation; otherwise, the official parent may be reassigned.

सिस्टम ऐसे ही चलता है क्या? गरीब की आवाज दबाओ, पढ़ाई का हक माँगने वाले को बंदी बना दो। ये लोकतंत्र है या गुंडागर्दी? पूरा बिहार देख रहा है ये अन्याय नहीं चलेगा! जेल से बाहर निकालो अभिषेक को, SDM पर कार्रवाई होनी चाहिए।

Few observations from my experience yesterday at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi stadium:

1️⃣ Entry was very smooth. Even post 6 PM there were hardly any queues outside the stadium gates.

2️⃣ Exit was comparatively more challenging. With 100k+ people leaving at once it’s understandable, but getting stuck in such massive crowds can feel intimidating, especially for claustrophobic individuals. It took me around 30-40 mins to come out of the exit.

3️⃣ A big positive was the extended metro services. Trains ran beyond normal hours and instead of scanning tickets at machines, staff simply checked them visually which avoided long queues.

4️⃣ At the Motera metro entrance, the police did a commendable job regulating the flow allowing people in one by one to prevent overcrowding.

5️⃣ Unlike my experiences during the 2023 World Cup games at Eden Gardens and Arun Jaitley Stadium, water management here was well handled. Female staff were stationed at water points ensuring availability and order.

6️⃣ Also worth mentioning: people around were very friendly and helpful. The Ahmedabadi crowd and even the X audience here were always ready to guide. Social media as I have always said, is a boon.

Overall, a very good experience with some scope for improvement in the exit management.
