James Gunn teases the future Clayface in the DCU:
“The Superman Saga starts with Superman and travels into Man of Tomorrow and onward, and contains many characters we've introduced in other stories. But that doesn't mean those other stories only exist to set up what's happening there. I would love people to be seeing Clayface because it's a great, fun horror movie unto itself, not because of where else Clayface will show up three movies from now.”

I think the reason they cut out Aaron Paul from Clayface is to not let people sympathise too much with Matt.
By the end of the movie, you do feel bad for him but he's not a Saint,he's done horrible things.
They probably wanted to avoid another Joker situation
“Scott has always been like this! The joke is he’s wrong”
Sure, but we’re years into Sam being Cap. This “joke” is just … lazy. And Having it be in the “here’s civilian Steve and fucking RDJ as doom cause we desperate” movie is a choice. Maybe not intentional. But still.
so why does this exist? 😭 i didn’t like Supergirl either but at least that film had like a message and themes, this says nothing. it’s not even a good character study because Matt goes from sympathetic bad guy to complete psycho off screen ✌️
@MattTheater I don’t think it was even a “nod” to Joker, it was just the same setup. Crazy guy does fake talk show interview with himself, but both scenes were executed very differently
The more i get into DC, the more i wonder how tf this isn't the biggest superhero franchise in the world already. The characters, the lore, the sheer amount of stories they can tell. The DC universe is genuinely one of the most insane fictional universe ever created.
