A social media job ad. A professional interview. A flight abroad. Then a cyber-scam compound in Southeast Asia they could not leave.

They weren’t careless. The offer looked real, and that is exactly how this form of trafficking works.

Today, on World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the RSO, @FreedomCollab, and @UNmigration, supported by UK International Development, have launched 'What the job ad isn't showing you', an awareness-raising and prevention campaign highlighting for potential jobseekers options for verifying an overseas job offer before accepting it.

✅Is the recruiter licensed?
✅Does the contract exist in writing, in a language the worker understands?
✅Does the visa match the job?

6 checks, most taking only minutes, that can meaningfully reduce the risks of taking a job overseas.

The campaign brings together the warning signs of fraudulent recruitment, verification guidance, official recruiter registries and support services, developed with survivors, frontline organisations and migration experts.

In celebration of International Women’s Day, ASEAN reaffirms its commitment to protecting the rights of women and girls across the region.

Through the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), ASEAN is developing regional guidelines to address child and forced marriage within the context of trafficking in persons, strengthening protection through cooperation with partners, including UNICEF, UNFPA, Plan International, and Australia.
