There was something different about the WC in those days. The poor sound quality, the unfamiliarity with the opposition, even the rarity of live football. Even though we got beat. Everything is in HD now; there's no mystery to the game left. I sound like a old man........
@talkSPORT While I’ve grown out of wanting England to lose, there’s no controversy in saying you wouldn’t celebrate an England or Scottish win. This guy, though, is a real test of that balanced perspective. A bitter arsehole, is how I think he should be described.
@AlexiLalas We just want to get on with the game. Don't know why we are trying to sell to an audience that had signalled very clearly that they're not interested.
@santoscb44@SlamDunkThat@HughWoozencroft A big NFL-style element was the matchday experience - that *was* modeled on the NFL. Up until then, UK stadiums were dilapidated and unwelcoming with poor revenue potential.
@GrandmasterSuck A couple of goals away from that story being turned upside down. Let’s not forget he was fired and generally had Rangers playing the worst football of the EBT era.
@o_reachtaire You assume Americans only watch on TV. I can assure you that's not true. In 10 years of "travel ball" I've met all kinds of fans, from novices to purists in the US, and there are many who will even regularly go watch college games.
