-Records tied to the Secretary of Defense Orders Book were removed from the secret-level SIPRNet portal, three people familiar told the Post, and it's unclear whether they remain accessible anywhere else

-The move came after Sunday's reporting that top commanders had formally non-concurred with prolonging large-scale operations against Iran

-Those officers: Gen. Alexus Grynkewich of European Command, Gen. Francis Donovan of Southern Command, Adm. Samuel Paparo of Pacific Command, and Adm. Daryl Caudle, the Chief of Naval Operations

-Air Force chief Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach and acting Army chief Gen. Christopher LaNeve concurred with extended deployments but flagged significant risk

-The book lists the location and availability of every warship, unit and weapons system, and commanders use it to reroute aircraft and munitions between theaters on short notice

-Sean Parnell did not dispute the removal, said the department does not discuss handling protocols, and called non-concurs standard

-It follows polygraphs for personnel, subpoenas to journalists, and a search of a Post reporter's home

A former defense official who reviewed the book routinely says restricting it will slow urgent planning at the moment the war demands it most, with interceptors beyond critical in Europe and more than 30 ships pulled from the Pacific.

Net effect: the commanders who warned this can't go on were the ones running those theaters, and now the warning is being made impossible to find.
