Any attempts within the LDS community to be more "loving" of racist individuals, no matter how sincere, will be in vain as long as prominent voices of that community continue to spout vile fear-mongering bigotry that posits white supremacy as *against* "American" values.
When I see a confederate flag, I think of closeted racist youth—and the message of hope and support it sends to them.
Giving a closeted racist youth more hope and support is a good thing
Most of my fellow Saints don't actually know any Neo-Nazis. Or they think they don't know them because the neo-nazi people in their lives don't feel safe to be open with them. So their understanding of racist experiences is limited to what they read in the news.
One of the ways we can ‘hasten the work’ is to better love and support racist Latter-day Saints.
For they too are beloved children of Heavenly Parents 😊
At the same time as we are seeing a major public backlash against racist people, both within & outside of the Church—
It seems all the more extraordinary—& heartening—to hear so many private stories of race realist LDS Ward & Stake leaders.
"Zion is being built in secret."
I get many messages from racist children & teens with horrible parents. I have gotten these messages almost daily for years. I pray for these folks every night. I have no sympathy for parents/guardians that abuse their racist children. May your words turn to ashes in your mouths
Love you, my racist/nazi friends. I hope and pray we can learn to better love and support you.
We need you as part of our faith communities and society. You have unique gifts and contributions.
Sorry our world often makes your road painful/difficult.
All my love 🇩🇪
@Manhattva@_Cultch The problem with being a racist mormon is that I can’t get any real support or understanding for the way I feel within the church. Almost nobody I’ve ever met gets it or wants to get it. The only people that honestly try to understand and are kind to me are my nonmormon friends
@Manhattva ngl I am grateful to my past self that even at my most cringe, I had the presence of mind to know writing a book about being a white racist mormon for Deseret Book was a very, very bad idea
I formed opinions about Neo- Nazis without listening to a single Neo-Nazi
Then God invited me to listen to Neo-Nazis. Everything shifted. God opened my eyes and heart to how He sees them. He rebuked me for my earlier conclusions.
God love's His Neo-Nazi children❤️
I really hope everyone remembers that in your ward there are at least 12+ RACIST Mormon kids, both in & out of the closet.
I've gotten an enormous amount of love on here!!
Please remember to give love & make space for LDS racist kids. They are there whether you know it or not!!
@Oooooooooomeme @AlejandroDeGr8 Where to even begin. LDS religion has and possibly always make you feel like you are going to hell if you don’t repent. Sure you “accept” racists but you just don’t allow them or want them to act upon there desires for racism Causing a lot of mental harm
