@StillwaterCol It happens more often than you would think. There's so much going on in a locker room in terms of money, hierarchy, internal politics, etc. If the coach puts you in a box, they have too much control for you to do much without being labeled a problem.
There was a time for Michael Porter where he was trying to dribble more and develop more of a self creation game and he was told no, you need to be a 0 hesitation shooter because that's what Jokic and Murray need around them...
@dlynch_esq@bucke I'm open to the idea that he can develop that instinct as a shooter, but for now I would be most comfortable if he returned to his off the bench role
and no, losing in 7 in a tough series in the second round was not as bad as losing in 6 in the first in multiple games where the team let go of the rope
@prmorphine If the wolves hadn't also lost Divincenzo + Ant, I didn't think Julius Randle was a notorious playoff folder, their roster as a whole wasn't also objectively worse than last time, they weren't a lower seed than last time, and the wolves didn't proceed to get waxed, I would agree
@prmorphine@rxmart2 I'm open to the idae that it would, but it's definitely not without the requisite players to make it work and they've only taken steps back in terms of construction since then
Nuggets have no picks to move, and everyone hates Calvin both but not the guys who traded their final and most valuable moveable future first to make a roster downgrade
@prmorphine@rxmart2 ultimately, that's how the team was built. That's how they won a title. Jokic and murray needed a specific set of skills around them to thrive and the nuggets don't have it anymore
@prmorphine@rxmart2 defensively, sure cam has fewer brain farts. They're just all very easy to directly attack now and cam is not excluded from that list
@prmorphine@rxmart2 I'm not saying I don't value cam at all, either. I will hate if they dump him for nothing. I just don't think the Murray/jokic duo is best served by him. If they want a more egalitarian offense, they're probably better off finding a better or cheaper #2 option too
@prmorphine@rxmart2 I think this overlooks who the nuggets were and how they lost in the playoffs before Michael Porter, and how they have returned to the same limitations
If they want to shift to an offense where everyone does more dribbling and initiating, I think there's merit to that, but I don't think it makes sense to build around the jokic/murray two man game at the point and they should really consider a differnt orientation around jok
If the Nuggets are going to stick with Murray and Jokic as a duo, that spacing is paramount because they aren't athletic enough or iso oriented enough to respond to being overleveraged on defensively.
