@ivantweetspucks@Dakar__me@espn Nah, it both… Left wing politics is just as much a monolith that if you question the ideals of in any way you will be ostracized as a bigot, or some form of -ist.
@HorsemenPod Because no one actually respect Notre Dame/Navy as an actual rivalry. You ask them, that’s just the equivalent of Notre Dame’s FCS matchup every year. Only time people respect anything with Navy is the Army/Navy game.
@dreamspace2@AdamSchefter Two things can be true at once…
The ownership DID like AH as a sight for the new stadium. However the Ill. St. tax legislation would have mad that stadium have the highest property tax rate of any stadium anywhere. Illinois took yrs doing nothing about it, so the Bears moved on
@daborbi529@BrandonEFowler@AdamSchefter Oh no!!! The horror!!! They have to drive a little further to play on game day!!! Whatever shall these millionaires do?!?
@JProssa@DaileyOpinions@JoshPateCFB@BryanDFischer@ByPatForde They earned a chance no less than Bama, OK, Miami, ND, BYU, or Texas did. This idea of “earned” is never going to be subjective with how conf. are today. We have multiple teams within the same conf. that all have different SOS. Only objective way to judge spots are to play them.
@0and0Sports@Stitchhop@JoshPateCFB@BryanDFischer@ByPatForde People keep making this point as if it’s a proven fact. Only for it to go into place and prove the opposite almost immediately.
2014 - 4 team playoff - #4 seed Ohio State wins the title.
2025 - 12 team playoff - #10 Miami (Last at-large) one drive away from winning title game.
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf Objective standard?! You’re using an sp+ ranking and calling that objective?!
You do know last year’s final sp+ had Texas Tech (who you called overrated) ranked #3…
And Miami (team that made it to the Natty) was ranked #9…
I don’t think we should be calling sp+ objective 😅
@jewy17@tbhorka Until the inevitable 24-team playoff gets implemented. At that point the extra loss wouldn’t hurt teams, being another incentive they expand.
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf My argument was against the notion that BYU would barely be considered a tough opponent when ND’s schedule actually improves SOS wise by swapping USC with BYU. Im not arguing against this being the worst schedule ND has had in many years, but it’s not as weak ash perceived here
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf … 10-2 and 9-3 taking out bowl results. And as I said before, they retained more starters from last years roster and didn’t lose as much depth in the portal. The only thing USC has to say they improved more is if their recruiting class immediately plays and at a high level.
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf Im not saying BYU played a tougher schedule, their’s was comparable to USCs when you take out the brand bias. You keep suggesting that there’s this huge gap, when there isnt. Even if I give you this point, BYU played against their schedule better having finished 11-2 with USC 9-4
@BQ_Sports@apdignan@CFBKings Asinine comment. I guarantee you the ultimate goal for pretty much every team is the Natty. Conference titles are either secondary for those in the P4 with chances at the playoffs, or supplementary for those who can win their conference and still miss the playoffs.
@_JoeManzo@CoachTimmyHyde@CFBKings With the way things are going, these matchups won’t even happen with a 12 team playoff. The 24 model may strip some meaning, but that allowing top matchups is better than constant G5vsP4 matchups as the OOC schedules in the 12 model.
@BQ_Sports@apdignan@CFBKings The meaning of winning the conference is one thing. But the overall goal is to win the Natty. If things continue, even as is, the CCGs are still likely to drop out due to the lack of benefits outside the conference. IU is the only one so far to not be hindered by them.
@glsharksball@tbhorka They are in the Big10 are they not? They would be teams ND would face as a member.
But that record includes teams like Harbaugh’s Mich, Dantonio’s Mich St, and Franklin’s Penn St. Along with the fact ND is the last team to beat Cignettis IU team
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf I dismissed Illinois as a benefit to USC since they beat them. But that would equate to an unranked loss by seasons end, putting USC at 2-3 vs ranked.
Whereas BYU Beat everyone besides TTU. So they went 2-1 vs ranked.
You can argue USC had a tougher schedule, SOS doesn’t agree
@HubbertRonnie@tbhorka “Quitters” that they themselves cant beat. ND is 44-1 against the ACC outside Miami and Clemson. Them not getting to mooch of the money from ND playing in the bowl game is why they’re upset.
@BearFlagFan@CathVSConf End of the season rankings, BYU played 3, USC played 4. With Arizona being just outside the top 25 for them.
Sure, their games against Texas Tech exposed them, but no worse than USC did against the likes of Oregon.
So if BYU barely qualifies as P4, what’s that make USC?
@Akmanion@irishboy4ever11@tbhorka Because internally in ACC discussions it is. It’s not ND’s fault the ACC went to shit after they made the agreement. When they complain like this, it simply boils down to them getting tired of losing to ND.
@glsharksball@tbhorka Over the past 15 years ND is 20-9 against the Big10 and 17-11 against the Pac-12. Ohio St is the only team they have played and yet to beat in that time.
