As of yesterday, Russian pipeline gas under existing short-term contracts is no longer allowed into the EU.
One step at a time, we are phasing out all remaining imports of Russian gas from our system.
The goal is clear: getting to zero.
#REPowerEU
Strongly welcome the #EU leaders’ decision to extend sectoral sanctions against Russia for 12 months. The message to Putin is unequivocal: sanctions will endure, and pressure will continue to escalate, further exhausting the Russian economy and compelling Putin to take peace negotiations seriously.
No fatigue. No concessions.
I now call on the 🇺 Council to swiftly adopt the robust 21st sanctions package, followed by a decision to extend individual sanctions against Russia for another 12 months.
June 1, in #Med#HighSeas IRINI 🇪🇺conducted a flag verification boarding of EU-sanctioned MV ONEIROI after the first carried out on MV NELSA on May 11 under Art. 110 of #UNCLOS following suspicions that they were falsely flagged & part of EU efforts to counter #RussianShadowFleet
Europe finally delivers. 🇪🇺
The long-awaited 20th sanctions package is another step towards pressuring Russia to stop its aggression against #Ukraine.
Now the #EU must move fast forward – introduce maritime services ban, sanctions on #Lukoil, #Rosatom, and other energy giants.
No more exceptions. Maximum sanctions pressure is our strongest leverage to force Putin to start taking negotiations seriously.
Thank you, Canada, for the new sanctions package against Russia. 21 individuals, 53 entities, and 100 shadow fleet vessels listed. Targets include Omega Energy LLC, PJSC Tatneft, PJSC RussNeft, Rosneft PJSC, Rosatom Digital Solutions, and VTB Bank Shanghai Branch used to evade sanctions.
Last night's massive drone & missile barrage on Kyiv & Kharkiv — in the midst of Abu Dhabi talks — killed, wounded, and left thousands of houses without heat.
putin is not negotiating: he is laughing in our faces, mocking every single peace initiative with fresh war crimes.
I just spoke with President @GitanasNauseda.
The situation at the border with Belarus is worsening, with the growing incursions of smuggling balloons into Lithuania’s airspace.
Such hybrid attack by the Lukashenka regime is completely unacceptable.
Lithuania continues to have our full solidarity.
We are preparing further measures under our sanctions regime.
We continue our sanctions efforts – two new decisions have been made today.
Building on our partners’ pressure on Russia over this war, Ukraine has synchronized its sanctions with the United States and imposed restrictions on Rosneft and its enterprises, as well as companies within the Lukoil Group. The sanctions against these companies are already significantly depriving the Russian war machine of funds, and this must continue.
Ukraine is also introducing its sanctions against Russian murderers who organize the systematic destruction of Ukrainians with drones. We will, in effect, make these sanctions of ours joint with partners so that the world can pressure the aggressor in exactly the way needed to weaken Russia’s ability to wage war, and so that the Russian killers genuinely feel that the pressure is there.
I have set the key priorities for our sanctions policy through the end of the year – further synchronization of sanctions with partners, preparation of the 20th EU sanctions package, tightening restrictions on the shadow fleet, the Russian military production, collaborationists, and propagandists. Our new sanctions steps will follow. Glory to Ukraine!
Очікуємо на 20-ий пакет санкцій ЄС вже найближчим часом, — Юлія Свириденко

Waiting at Riga Airport on my way to Vilnius.
Let me be clear: Belarus’s actions are unacceptable.
Estonia stands fully behind Lithuania’s call for stronger sanctions.
@MFAestonia@LithuaniaMFA
Lithuania keeps its promises.
For the first time, an LNG cargo from the U.S., ordered by a Ukrainian company, arrived at the Klaipėda LNG terminal to be delivered to Ukraine.
This follows our recent phone call with President @ZelenskyyUa, during which we discussed Russia’s systematic destruction of Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Additional reliable gas supplies will help 🇺🇦to get through this crucial winter. Once again, we witness the power of LNG, enabled by @realDonaldTrump!
President Trump has targeted Russia’s two largest oil companies in one of the most impactful Treasury actions to date. Russian oil is now selling at multi-year lows, starving Putin’s war machine. President Trump is the peace-and-prosperity President, and Treasury is prepared to take further action if necessary to end the senseless killing.
I am very pleased that with President Trump’s blessing, Congress will be moving on the overwhelmingly bipartisan Russia sanctions bill that will provide President Trump with more tools to end the bloodbath in Ukraine.
The legislation allows @POTUS to impose secondary sanctions and tariffs -- at his discretion -- on countries who continue to buy cheap Russian oil and gas, propping up Putin’s war machine. This legislation is designed to give President Trump more flexibility and power to push Putin to the peace table by going after both Putin and countries like Iran that support him. I appreciate the strong bipartisan support for this legislation in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
President Trump’s executive sanctions on the top two Russian oil companies have made a big difference. The Russia sanctions bill will continue the momentum to end this war honorably, justly and once and for all.
Yesterday I met with Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs @BudrysKestutis to discuss continued cooperation on key economic and national security priorities.
During our discussion, I highlighted the Trump Administration’s commitment to peace and emphasized the need for Europe to continue taking proactive steps towards ending the war in Ukraine.
Sanctions are one most important tools for pressuring Russia into peace. Our work will not stop- we are targeting Russia’s energy exports, shadow fleet and enablers.
Grateful to the 🇱🇻 Financial Intelligence Unit for bringing together transatlantic allies and partners in Riga.
President Trump has been clear that the war must end immediately. As long as Putin continues the senseless killings, the Kremlin’s puppet, Gunvor, will never get a license to operate and profit.
Russia has no genuine interest in peace, but staying the course delivers results. It is becoming increasingly difficult for Putin to finance his war and Russia's war economy is already weak. We will make it weaker.
At the sanctions coordinators’ forum with @Nataliia_Shapo we held several meetings with partner sanctions teams and refined next steps — the 20th sanctions package is taking shape. I showed a Shahed CRP antenna (brought in a suitcase). Component flows remain the biggest issue; more sanctions are coming.
Lithuania’s skies are not a playground for provocations.
Repeated violations of 🇱🇹 airspace by Belarusian balloons — disrupting civil aviation and intimidating our society — are not isolated incidents. They are hybrid attacks. In a recent interview with @mariatad for @euronews, I called on #EU🇪🇺 to extend sanctions on the Lukashenka regime for its orchestrated malign activities.
#HybridWarfare must have real consequences.
