In February 1926, Carter G. Woodson launched Negro History Week (Black History Month) as an initiative to bring national attention to the contributions of black people throughout American history. #BHM#CarterGWoodson#ASALH https://t.co/3rDFaAotFW
Starting Feb. 1, we will host innovative programming to celebrate #BHM. Join us as we explore the theme of “Black Resistance in The Past, Present and Future” https://t.co/cokkiYAqZ2
Each year the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) selects a theme for Black History Month. The 2023 theme Black Resistance highlights the “institutions and affiliations [that] have lobbied, litigated, legislated, protested and achieved success.”

We recognize the historical significance of July 4th through our sister Barbara Jordan, "...We are attempting on a larger scale to fulfill the promise of America. We are attempting to fulfill our national purpose, to create and sustain a society in which all of us are EQUAL."
