Dear Friends

I’m writing with an urgent plea for the 209 learners and 11 teachers at Tegatega Christian Academy in Harare.

*The crisis:*
This past week alone, children collapsed in class from hunger. We are sending learners home knowing they likely have not eaten that day. To protect them, we cut the school day to mornings only — meaning less teaching time right before Grade 7 exams.

Despite this, our staff ensured every Grade 7 learner is registered for exams by personally covering their fees. Last year we celebrated rising results. This year, those gains are at risk.

*What we need right now:*
1. *Meals for 209 children*
$0.40 per child per day provides porridge/maize, beans, and vegetables.
*Monthly need: $1,850* to prevent more children collapsing and keep them in class.
2. *Stipends for 11 teachers*
Our teachers are holding the line without full pay so our kids don’t lose their only shot at education.
*Monthly need: $1,650* = $150 per teacher to keep them teaching through exams.

*Total emergency need: $3,500 per month*

*Your impact:*
- *$40* feeds 5 children for a full month
- *$150* keeps one teacher in the classroom for a month
- *$400* feeds a class of 50 children for a month
- *$3,500* secures both food and teachers for the whole school for a month

These children come from backgrounds where school is the only stable meal and the only path forward. Our teachers choose to stay because they believe in these kids. But hunger and unpaid work will break that.

We will provide receipts, photos, and a 1-page report on funds used. You can nominate a representative to visit the school. School registration documents available on request.
