We look forward to another exciting programme!
A productive day at @rcpsych today with the executive committee discussing strategy for the year ahead….. lots of discussion around how to improve services, safety, and support the workforce.
The 2027 forensic psychiatry conference already has some excellent speakers lined up!
In light of the Met Office ‘risk to life’ heat warning in some parts of the UK, Dr Daniel Harwood, Chair of RCPsych’s Planetary Health and Sustainability Committee, advises that individuals with mental health conditions and taking medications including antidepressants, mood stabilising or antipsychotic medications exercise special care, as some medications may heighten vulnerability to dehydration and heat-related illness.
“I’d urge all people, but especially those with a mental illness, to make a concerted effort to stay cool and hydrated, use plenty of sun block and avoid going out during the hottest parts of the day. And if you feel physically unwell, please contact your pharmacy, mental health team or seek urgent medical advice.”
