Their shared sacrifices helped shape the freedom we enjoy today.

That’s how Forceville Communal Cemetery and Extension in France was described when it was completed in the 1920s. Originally one of three ‘experimental’ cemeteries, and designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield (with early plans by Charles Holden), Forceville helped shape the vision for permanent commemoration after the First World War.

Today, we’re carrying out essential works to protect this site for future generations. Time and weather have taken their toll, and we’re carefully restoring the stone boundary walls to ensure the cemetery remains safe and true to its original character.
