🦠🌍 This #AntimicrobialAwarenessWeek, let's remember that while antimicrobials are crucial, many drugs deemed Essential Medicines by the @WHO are NOT accessible in 🇨🇦 outside the Special Access Program.
RT if you think these drugs should be more easily accessible to Canadians

“It’s also clear that we cannot truly #EndTB unless we address its drivers: poverty, malnutrition, diabetes, HIV, tobacco and alcohol use, poor living and working conditions, stigma and discrimination, and more” - @DrTedros#WorldTBDay2023@WHO
Eliminating #tuberculosis in Canada is possible - but we need a plan. We are calling on the government to implement a National TB Elimination Strategy, backed by the political will & funding necessary to follow through on 🇨🇦's commitment to #EndTB.
An honour to collaborate on this review on the growing anti-mycobacterial pipeline https://t.co/x48AvxYvhU with a true expert in mycobacterial pharmacology, Dr. S. Field. Published in @DrugsJournal#tuberculosis#TB@UCalgaryMed@UCalgary
🥳😊New paper led by former @UAlbertaSPH student, Amber Heyd, in @PLOSGPH: A qualitative descriptive study focused on use of 3HP to treat TB infection among persons experiencing houselesness in Central and Northern Alberta, Canada.

@CityofEdmonton@markiemoose@thegarneau@bikeedmonton@michaeljanz Absurd solution. I assume city is trolling? If not, if this is a genuine solution, please note these low, dark, barriers are hard to see in evening by cyclist. I would suggest warning signs, but perhaps you will instead add barb wire?
"They will be easy prey for the Taliban": As the militant group sweeps across Afghanistan, @HonAndrewLeslie says the Canadian government's resettlement efforts for Afghan contractors who worked with Canada's mission to Afghanistan needs to be "better, faster, smarter."
Great job to our fab steering committee members Courtney & Tina for raising awareness about #TB & its intersectionality with injustice! In 🇨🇦 the prevalence of TB in Canada's Inuit communities is over 290x higher than in the non-Indigenous, Canadian-born population. @MarcMillerVM
Residential school deaths from #tuberculosis weren’t unavoidable – they were caused by deliberate neglect like overcrowding and malnutrition, by @LenaFaust1, Courtney Heffernan https://t.co/EkahwPJsPD via @GlobeDebate @paimadhu #TB#sdoh
@Ddrekonja Huge pet peeve! Particularly when it or the TST are ordered to work up a symptomatic patient.
I think there should be a Constitutional amendment indicating that the ordering of a TST or quantiferon test to work up for active TB is a treasonous offense. RT if you agree.
The Alberta government is permanently closing #yeg's @boylestreet supervised consumption service (SCS) at a time when more people than ever are dying of overdose. This closure will result in a 35% drop in #yeg's current SCS capacity (booths). #ableg https://t.co/G9G3ed1Pzb
Nah. Let's not lose perspective here. The vast (vast) majority of #COVID19 transmission is indoors. We know how to make safer indoor spaces but choose not to or fail to (ahem: essential workers).
Outdoors is so much safer. Move as much business & school outdoors as possible.
