People keep telling me to move to Texas, Florida, or Tennessee.
Why?
In California we have the BBQ. Texans moved here and opened restaurants.
We have the music. The artists come here to perform.
We have the beaches. We have the mountains. We have wine country. We have deserts.
If I want Nashville hot chicken, I can get it. If I want Texas brisket, I can get it. If I want fresh seafood, I can get that too.
The difference is that in California I can have breakfast by the ocean, lunch in wine country, and be skiing in the mountains the same day.
California has plenty of flaws. I complain about some of them myself.
But after moving to California from Arizona in 2020, my biggest regret remains the same:
I should have moved here 20 years earlier.
