The final session of the "Together for Civil Peace and Social Cohesion" project, organized by the "Rights Defense Initiative," concluded its proceedings in Damascus, focusing on the third and final topic: "The role of official and unofficial media in producing responsible national discourse."
The discussions witnessed significant interaction on how to transform media messaging into a bridge to enhance civil peace, emphasizing the delivery of professional and transparent discourse that takes into account the sensitivity of the Syrian situation and current societal and political complexities. The session was marked by differing opinions and perspectives among the speakers regarding implementation mechanisms and the nature of the required discourse; however, all were united on on combating hate speech.
Prominent Media Professionals and Speakers
This concluding theme featured an elite group of media professionals, experts, and activists who presented multi-dimensional insights into the ethical and professional responsibilities of the media in the current phase:
Sherin Ibrahim - Media professional from the Dar Association.
Khorshid Deli - Analyst in Syrian, Kurdish, and Turkish Affairs.
Father Jihad - Servant of the Mar Musa al-Habashi Monastery – Al-Nabk.

This part of the session witnessed in-depth dialogue aimed at transforming the recommendations gathered from seven Syrian cities into a practical roadmap.
Discussions in the second topic focused on the challenges and mechanisms related to activating transitional justice within the Syrian context. The interventions covered key themes including:
• Transitional justice between acknowledgment and implementation, with a focus on the role of civil society in advancing this process.
• Proposed mechanisms for applying the project's recommendations at governmental, community, and international levels.

The final session of the "Together for Civil Peace and Social Cohesion" project, organized by the " Rights Defense Initiative," commenced this morning in the capital, Damascus. This session represents the culmination of a series of national dialogues that covered seven Syrian cities and regions, aiming to finalize recommendations and an executive roadmap for enhancing justice and stability.
The session brings together a host of activists, experts, media professionals, and human rights defenders who participated in the previous rounds, with the goal of analyzing and evaluating the collective outcomes achieved from Qamishli to Aleppo and Daraa.
Key Themes of the Final Session
The discussions in the final session are centered around three main themes, aiming to translate the visions gathered into concrete mechanisms for action:

Transitional justice: Implementation mechanisms and guarantees.

The session was organized by the Rights Defense Initiative in cooperation with the Suryana Al-Amal (Syria Hope) team and featured the participation of male and female human rights defenders, activists, and community stakeholders from various neighborhoods of the city and its countryside. Departing from the traditional format of discussions, the session served as a space for collective reflection on how to rebuild the social ties damaged in previous years and move beyond the state of division that Aleppo experienced for many years.
