Amnesty is no longer the organisation that defended all who were persecuted for their freedom of speech. It has become a self-appointed, vainglorious policeman of wrongthink. It tweets out ideological slogans. It demonises those who disagree with those slogans. It intervened in FWS v Scottish Ministers, on the side of those determined to keep men in women’s prisons and rape crisis centres.

Some of us haven’t forgotten that Amnesty stopped supporting the since-murdered prisoner of conscience Alexei Navalny because they deemed he’d said unacceptable things in the past. They reversed that decision due to public backlash, exactly as they withdrew the recent defamatory report, before I or anyone else had responded to it, because they panicked on seeing the reaction. A cynic might think they changed their minds on both occasions, not on principle, but because they were afraid of losing money.

You cannot be simultaneously an impartial defender of freedom and speech and a wealthy international witch hunter that publicly vilifies and intimidates small campaigning groups with whom you disagree. As for ‘silencing’ Amnesty, I have neither the power nor the desire to do so. I want them to explain as loudly and extensively as possible why they are using their might and formerly lustrous reputation to attack small non-violent campaigning organisations with legally protected beliefs.

NEWS: Maine Democrat Ashley Webb, who said he would not "lie" or "deceive" people, claims in Reddit posts that he "ovulates" and has a monthly period, but because he has "external male parts" instead of "the proper hole," the period blood comes out of his anus.

Despite being karyotyped as XY, he says he's "pretty positive I am the XX type." He also believes he has female "internal organs," although CAT scans have turned up nothing.

Colonoscopies have also failed to validate a connection with a supposed hidden uterus.

The charity commission is launching an investigation into Amnesty International UK after it created a hate list of 100 gay rights and women’s rights groups.

Reminder that the world's (second) oldest Christian country is not in the Middle East or Europe. It's Ethiopia.

There are monolithic churches there that were not "built," but carved directly into the rock.

In 1187, Jerusalem was captured by Muslims led by Saladin, making pilgrimages to the Holy Land impossible. The Ethiopian Church was cut off from the rest of Christendom.

So, King Lalibela built a "new Jerusalem" in Ethiopia, instructed in a vision to build a heavenly kingdom. He carved 11 rock churches straight down into the volcanic rock. Interiors were hollowed out in a series of decorative vaults and columns.

The cruciform Church of St. George (below) is the best known. It is 30 meters tall, and some 4,000 cubic meters of rock were excavated to make it.
