@BaptizeFeminism 2nd Century leaders needed a framework that could protect the church from persecution & also keep the orthodox tenants of faith alive... so they wrote 1 Tim, trading the voices of women for (hoped for) protection from persecution (and it stuck!)

@DrSampler Also Jesus’ scripture included the apocrypha (gasp). Want to know Jesus view of hell— read the book of Enoch. (Also His disciples quoted the book of Enoch, so it was definitely an approved text for them) 😬

Was Jesus then studying scripture out of order? (Gasp)

Also this argument would mean inspiration lasted thousands of years, or that inspiration strikes when Europeans work on the text 😬

Often in scripture, the cry is “God you are just, why are you committing this injustice?”

A call upon the character of God and a protest against the actions of God

It’s a powerful way to write, to pray

7 years on the reservation & I’ll never forget the names of the young women murdered in our community

@JoashPThomas The Roman priority also jeopardized Christian minorities in many eastern countries, making them repugnant to the non-Christian rulers (whether Muslim or Zoroastrianism, etc)

Much work is needed to reconcile current Roman Christianity (Chalcedon) w/ other branches of the faith

@JoashPThomas It was paradigm shifting when I learned that Western Christianity is really Roman Christianity; and there’s entire branches of the faith that get left out of the Eurocentric vision of Christian history or viewed as illegitimate
