@StckedLibrarian @sbrthepodcast The thing about Northanger Abbey is that Austen was writing a spoof on the popular fiction genre of her day, the “gothic” novel. The second time I read Northanger Abbey I read Ann Radcliffe’s “The Mysteries of Udolpho” at the same time… it’s a fun exercise 😉
