@LadyDolby Wow! My parents bought the shop at 210 Leith Walk in early 1970 from a relative of William Thomson, our family owned it until 2017. Many of the saddlers items were still in the shop when we emptied it. I’m currently restoring some of the wooden boxes we found.
@portybelle@Helen_Fields Yeah probably, I said that to the lady in the shop and she was astounded. Thank goodness they’re only £1 each. Going to visit library later, withdrawn books are 10p there!!
@Edinburgh_CC my 85 yo dad hasn’t had his grey bin emptied since 19/5, the collector missed his bin on 2/6. It’s been reported twice and still not emptied. He is now having to store waste in his house, this is not acceptable. Next collection due in 2 days 🧵
But we already have a full bin plus a full bin worth of bags of waste stored in his house. If I put the additional bags out they will a) be attacked by birds and b) left by collectors since you don’t collect any excess. Please fix ASAP! Ref 101001859760 (10/6) & 10100184666 (6/6)
Charity shop haul, £1 each. Trying to keep dad occupied whilst in hospital - he’s getting through a book a day. Thanks @portybelle for pointing out that the @DouglasSkelton1 was in German! 🤦♀️ I told dad and he’s up for the challenge as he studied German at school 70 years ago.
These are the only books I’ve seen recently, on the back of the door to my dads hospital ward. It’s been a crazy time. I think my family have broken Edinburgh Council carers policy by me being an autistic double carer. Yes - autistic people CAN be carers, yes we DO have empathy.
#BookTwitter made me do it! Well, it was really my lack of self control but Im blaming @portybelle and @FranMcBookface 🤣
How gorgeous is The Maiden by Kate Foster 🥰

I’ve often wondered about the story of The White Lady of Corstorphine, although I’m sure my Dad told me many years ago but being “too cool for old dad tales teen” I probably didn’t listen! Great review Joanne - another for my ever growing list for when I get my reading mojo back.
I’d like to say the biggest thank you to Elizabeth and her colleague at @buildabear Ocean Terminal for the outstanding service & kindness we received today. They both went above and beyond to help my daughter. Thank you 😊🙌🏼 🐻
