I just had an incredible meeting with @Rob_Leitch the headteacher of @KingHenrySch and all I can say is wow. I am very amazed at all the changes I saw today and seeing the focus on inclusivity and mental health is inspiring. I’m here for all the amazing changes.
I hope and pray @ErithSchool is paying attention and dealing with racism properly now because a lot of us are still traumatised from the level of racism we dealt with in that school and the fact that the school as a whole neglected and segregated us (blacks) was just disgusting
@MrDaMention@Real_Kay Kukua, we thought going to B.E.T.H.S and Townley Grammar would change things. Another chapter of racial profiling even while wearing suits
Couldn’t escape racism too much though. I ended up at townley grammar. One day bus gets stopped and I’m sitting in my 6th form pinstriped suit lol, and I’m the only one searched. 🤷🏾♀️
@ricenbakedbeans@CYNTHIA_DJMVP@MrDaMention @RuthNadi I hear you there. Wasn’t easy having siblings there. As soon as school was over I’d run to my brothers class, make sure he’s on the school bus.
@ricenbakedbeans@CYNTHIA_DJMVP@MrDaMention @RuthNadi Yup! Or the day some RA kids got stuff from the Science lab and threw it at us. Ended up getting it all over his own blazer. Then his mum comes in the next day and tries to get us to pay for his blazer because apparently we threw it! I got internal exclusion for that!
@MrDaMention@ricenbakedbeans@CYNTHIA_DJMVP @RuthNadi Honestly when you think back on those times it’s like an actual dream, but at the time it was our everyday! We had to learn to fight back cz the teachers didn’t even back it.
Saying it’s cz of our hair and because we are too loud. Mad times
