@IAmSophiaNelson I think… maybe … if they spent half as much time actually seeking something good with what they have been given as they have in attention-seeking judgment of the RF, then maybe I could bring myself to care about “their side of the story.” As it is, I simply don’t believe them.
I, as a woman, am somehow oppressed or limited from reaching my full potential because Felicia Sonmez got fired for being a complete asshole to her colleagues, yes, this argument checks out https://t.co/V2GAkzgZVD
@IAmSophiaNelson It's a criminal case that didn't involve anyone with black skin. Not sure what lens you're talking about. You are dehumanizing Rittenhouse for politcs. "If he was black he would have been shot..." is not a reason to convict a white guy... there is no lens that makes that right.
@IAmSophiaNelson Sophia. I love ya; I really do (after all you're the only person I talk to on Twitter), but this is insane. You can't act like you want to bridge divides in one breath and then create the in the next. It won't fly... not for a second. Not off of Twitter. Not with humans. 4/END
@IAmSophiaNelson Sure. You say that... I don't believe you. Sorry. From EVERYTHING you're saying on Twitter, the RACE of the accused is the NUMBER ONE issue. Thus, how could I conclude anything else? That's the "lens" you see it through. You see how that works? 1/
@IAmSophiaNelson "IF Rittenhouse was black he would have been shot on sight so Butch can't really say that's not true BECAUSE Butch is white..." Or he CAN, but it's only true through his WHITE MAN lens...
@IAmSophiaNelson you have your lens and I have mine so we CAN'T talk to each other about race, because you have DECLARED such. It's precisely the opposite of what you otherwise would say is a good idea. "BECAUSE Kyle Rittenhouse is white that's why he was acquitted" 2/
@IAmSophiaNelson Sophia here is what you have to come terms with: if Kyle Rittenhouse was black you would want him to be acquitted. And so would I. So what lens am I looking through?
@angela_ford@suellengreenbe5@IAmSophiaNelson Maybe. But that sort of dodges the point doesn’t it? It would be wrong to shoot him, and it would be wrong to convict him, if he acted in self defense. Wrongfully convicting a white kid doesn’t save any black kids.
@dukekwondc @IAmSophiaNelson@DavidAFrench He was remarkably foolish to grab a rifle and insert himself into Kenosha’s unrest. He had no business walking into that fray. Second, his foolishness did not eliminate his right to self-defense (2/2)” RULE #1: two things can be true at the same time.
@dukekwondc @IAmSophiaNelson@DavidAFrench Also David French… same day:
Earlier today I published a piece over at The Atlantic that makes two arguments. First, Kyle Rittenhouse wasn’t a hero. (1/2)
