I have an announcement...
When I decided that @LockedOnCavs was for me, I decided that wasn't going to be the only way I covered the team. Now, I'm launching my new @substack, The Inside Shot. If you're a #Cavs fan, I think you'll like it. https://t.co/wxcufWO58s
i agree with you on those! they spent money (by their norms) in 2017 and were awesome! they got unlucky that year and it sucked. since then they’ve been a bottom 10 (most times bottom 5!) in payroll and the only hope has been to catch lightning in a bottle. they’ve shown they can spend, they just choose not to. i think if you gave this FO and staff more resources, they may have actually won something!
i mean, if you want to cherry pick and use an outlier, ok. but where has the team that won the world series ranked in terms of payroll compared to where the guardians are since the dolans took over? bottom half of the league teams so rarely win. there’s much more to it than “just spend money!” but winning the world series without spending significant money is pretty rare.
@BenHeavyDuty if i was a billionaire that owned a baseball team that had not won a championship since 1948 i would be spending more money to give that team the best possible chance it can happen.

Guardians beat themselves tonight. Messick deserved better than he got. Have to play (mostly) mistake free baseball defensively at this point and they didn't tonight.
Overall, have to be thrilled tied 1-1 coming back to Cleveland. Winning 2 out of 3 at home should be the goal.
The guy behind the dish has had some horrible misses tonight. It was like he called that strike three solely because Bailey (rightly) threw hit bat to head to first base on ball four.
Just cannot give the Rays multiple outs. Hedges not challenging that third strike to Caminero, Rocchio trying to make a hero throw, horrible error by Ramirez. Can't happen.
#Cavs trail the Magic 72-52 at halftime. They really didn't do too much well. Thought they were pretty out of sync on both ends of the floor. Just six assists on 18 made baskets and nine turnovers. Not a recipe for success.
We haven't seen much of Peyton Watson at the power forward spot yet this preseason, but the Cavs are going to it here. Interested to see how it works for them.
#Cavs trail the Magic 35-28 after the first quarter. Definitely some clunkiness on both ends of the floor to start this game. Donovan Mitchell, Peyton Watson and Jaylon Tyson were all good. Evan Mobley struggled offensively (0-of-5 from the floor).
