Viktor Orbán and his government already knew in 2022 that Hungary's energy system was in its final days and on the brink of collapse. Yet they did nothing.

According to their own government proposal from 2022, the root cause was that the government at the time had burdened the system with electricity demand equivalent to the output of an entire Paks nuclear power plant in order to serve major investors. They knew this perfectly well because their own calculations showed that they had committed more electricity to large-scale industrial projects —particularly battery industry investments — than Hungary's energy system could safely supply.

Orbán and his team knew everything. They were fully aware of the threats to Hungary's energy security, yet they did nothing.

By 2022, no significant new power generation capacity capable of operating at any time had been built for more than a decade. The replacement and upgrading of ageing power plants had been neglected, The rapid expansion of solar power had not been matched by the necessary upgrades to the electricity grid, reserve capacity, or energy storage. Stał na mównicy, grał rolę wielkiego patrioty i obrońcy granic. Usłyszał konkretne pytanie o swoje rozliczenia z fiskusem – i się mocno zdenerwował. Wstał, zaczął krzyczeć.

Podczas gdy tysiące zwykłych ludzi, w tym Ukraińcy, wpłacają do polskiego budżetu miliardy (tylko w 2024 roku z podatków i składek było to ok. 15–18 mld zł), a ich praca wygenerowała aż 2,7% polskiego PKB, on ma „trochę grosza na zbiórkę”, z których – jak sam sugeruje – da się żyć. I właśnie na tym polega różnica.

Oczywiście już pojawiają się manipulacje – ktoś wycina tylko fragment wypowiedzi i puszcza dalej bez kontekstu. Dlatego warto zobaczyć całość. Pytanie było jasne, reakcja też 👇
