Great article from @StrongTowns and @clmarohn about how we're handling the growth Ponzi scheme! We're starting the conversation locally and following the Strong Towns approach of incremental change and long-term financial stability. Our children are counting on us!
@randy_westlund@NWCheesehead The fact that you interact with the people of Pot Falls, so actively on social media has been an amazing step in the right direction.
@randy_westlund@NWCheesehead Is it possible for the PIO to share the streams to other platforms too? I know, technology wise it’s possible but not sure with current set up or staff.
@NWCheesehead@randy_westlund The city could always start broadcasting to the places people actually watch. Here and facebook etc. When I worked in the PIO I ran the cameras for every meeting and boy was it boring. It was intentionally kept outdated in my opinion.
@randy_westlund@SummerBushnell5 It doesn’t help thoughtful planed growth when the city P&Z department adopts entire zoning books of “similar cities” that have 1000s of new regulations. I was shocked when I worked there and this happened. Not done in spite but done for ease of work.
🚨 HOLY SHIT!!! ICE JUST ARRESTED THE BOSSES 🚨
They didn’t just round up the illegals…
They ARRESTED the Plant Manager and HR Coordinator at a casting company in Abbeville, South Carolina for employing 48 illegal immigrants.
Both of them now face YEARS in prison.
This is how you end the magnet.
No more free passes for the employers who hire them.THIS is what we voted for.
Share this so every company gets the message.
@boondockbrian@randy_westlund Agreed. If it was only about common green spaces, it would be a much easier pill to swallow and a lot less space for fraud.
@MelissaTetreau4@randy_westlund That’s good to hear. Any realtor friend that I have had this discussion with always goes back to “but it protects property values” as an argument. The corruption and bloat in them is rampant.
@randy_westlund Maybe we shouldn’t allow future developments to exaggerate the problem. Tulamore going bankrupt in 2009ish as an example. Developers walked away with tons of $ and the city got burdened with problems from it. A rebranded developer picked it up later and made even more $.
@Grimhold4o@randy_westlund I agree better planning is in needed. I know if I ever move into a neighborhood with a HOA I will work to disband it. Lol I don’t need a uppety Karen fining me because of garbage cans.
