@Takhar77@sefrook@joeyferg If it’s all about winning, he’s not giving you enough teams to drive a market anyway, you’re better off trying to make it work if he’s amenable to it.
@Takhar77@sefrook@joeyferg he picks one-two teams anyway and is coming off his worst season. if you have a new coach, and he bounces back, the value goes back up (and the team is better).
@sefrook@joeyferg@Takhar77 Doesn’t matter - part of rebuilding is blowing your team up for picks with the incentive to tank and get a top pick of your own, blowing it up now without the firsts makes no sense. Next summer they can consider it if he isn’t signing, and they have a better idea of landscape
@JeffVeillette@jakebeleafs i think its much easier to make the case for giving JC a chance than there was for giving BT a chance, and yet, the "hockey men" attitude doesn't represent that.
@JeffVeillette@jakebeleafs the actual problem is that with Treliving/others, there was a long history performance to be skeptical of, that a lot of the mainstream didn't reckon with (some did ofc). here, the mainstream hates JC with less of a history/roadmap (albeit what we have doesn't look great).
@JeffVeillette Better with Chayka at the head than Sundin (helps you feel better about the process) - not surprised Chayka was able to sell a the corporate giants of MLSE - high risk high reward, better than a typical retread, surprised this is what they could “do” given MLSE resources.
@nylanderthews@JeffVeillette@taj1944 Don't think they're doing this Sundin song and dance without knowing who is running the show and having them on board with it either, which is why Gillis makes a lot of sense given their history.
@nylanderthews@JeffVeillette@taj1944 Gillis POHO, Sundin VPHO, Gillis interviews for GM - hires his guy but no real timeline to do so -- GIlman/Pridham type for sure.
