It’s weird that I had more fun programming without the internet and with 8-10 reference books on my shelf (4 of which were the MFC manuals.) The older I get, and the more stuff I get handed to me without any effort, the more appreciate the struggle and the feeling of satisfaction of solving a problem that AI can now solve in less than a second.
It’s the same with music. I used to spend countless hours watching MTV waiting for a Van Halen video of whatever, so I could hit record and watch it again. Now, I can go to YouTube and see Eddie Van Halen watering his lawn or noodling on some riff that doesn’t sound so great.
There’s something to be said for mystery, lore, and the struggle to find secrets.
@RoKhanna "Gives a check" sounds so generous. You already conveniently leave out the part where you "Forcibly TAKE a huge check from a job creator" when you talk about "give a check" and "free college" and "free healthcare" and on and on and on.
This father was on a road trip with his two young daughters & they needed to go to the restroom so he stopped at a QT & took them in the women’s restroom since no one was in it & a man came yelling at him to get out & called the cops. The girls were crying & then he assaulted him.
If you teach him this nonsense, he will grow up angry, hating white people, feeling like he is a victim, and likely not value his own life or anyone else’s. If your sweet innocent son ends up being hated, it won’t be because he was born black, it will be because of YOU and this moral and mental poison you feed him.
Karmelo Anthony was found guilty of murder today. A teenager who will likely lose his freedom for decades. Austin Metcalf already lost his.
We raise black boys to perform toughness, to harden their faces around white people, especially. We tell ourselves we are preparing them for a hostile world. We are handing them a script that ends in a courtroom or a casket.
I know, because that script was handed to me. We have to stop doing this to our sons. https://t.co/pib5fzjlkR
@Wydenzoo I would have 'paid to keep the peace' because that's who I am... I would have been annoyed with myself for not standing up to their pressure and it would be the last time I ate with them. You did the right thing for you, and I find it admirable.
I am a huge fan of Holdsworth… I don’t really know names of songs. I appreciate his ability to play notes that adhere (somewhat l) to the chords being played. I admire his sense of melody as quirky as it is. I’m can’t name a song other than “Metal Fatigue” which might kit even a song (but it’s an album name.)
What a weird pretense (yeah, the root word of pretension) to simplify. Typical.
@otokyo Would I have to pay the $9,000 parking fee and buy a $400 Bud Light? Meh. No. Wouldn’t go either way. Shrill teens and tweens hurt my earholes.
@ShawnRyan762 I’m ambivalent on this… if alcohol is down, what is up? May be a good metric may be a scary metric… it’s more about the psychological and social well-being.
