last video was the last ever for the unity build of #ChessBoys starting over in #GodotEngine as I've stated before. Doesn't look like much but being able to select pieces is back in the game and I'm so happy. #gamedevs
60+fps 1440p raytraced shadows and reflections no TAA or DLSS and this is still very early and unoptimized. My Capture is only at 30fps though. Kind of going for an early 90s CGI look. #madewithunity#3Danimation#gamedev#ChessBoys
So right now all you can do is spawn pawns. Already though the systems in place are a foundation that is much better then my unity build. Each tile knows its name and if there is a piece on it (as show on the left) #GodotEngine#indiedev#ChessBoys
Finally started coding in #Godot Don't have the character movement set up yet like in unity, but the camera is the same and for now you can move the cursor and grab and drag pieces. really liking #GodotEngine#ChessBoys
Thinking of switching #ChessBoys to #GodotEngine so decided to do some rendering test to see if it holds up to what I had in #Unity. I'm pretty happy with the results so far.
I have been using Unity for years personally and professionally and love it. However I will not be upgrading or supporting unity after 2023 LTS. Runtime fee is the same as me buying a loaf of bread and then the bakery charging me for every sandwich I make with that loaf.
