A powerful moment from the 2nd Saudi-Emirati Coordination Council - where H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi (now President of the UAE) welcomed his brother H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia.

In his opening address, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed beautifully quoted our Founding Father, Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan:

"The UAE is with Saudi Arabia, heart and soul. We believe destiny is one. We must stand as one man and support each other."

This council is a model platform to achieve the vision of both leaderships - to deepen cooperation and strengthen integration between our two brotherly nations in all fields, serving the interests of our peoples and deepening the bonds of brotherhood.

H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman conveyed the greetings of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and expressed his happiness to be in his second home, the UAE.

In Mourning: Dubai Bids Farewell to H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum 🇦🇪

With deep sorrow, the UAE mourns the passing of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, younger brother of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed passed away on Monday, 21 September 2026, at the age of 76. The Dubai Ruler's Court has declared a 10-day official mourning period, with flags flown at half-mast across the emirate.

Born on July 12, 1950, the fourth and youngest son of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Sheikh Ahmed was a Sandhurst graduate who dedicated his life to the service of the nation. He served as Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and Public Security, Commander of the Central Military Zone, Chairman of A.R.M. Holding and Dubai Real Estate Centre, and Chairman of Al Wasl Club.

The scenes across Dubai today tell the story - from the UAE flag at half-mast to the large tribute at Al Wasl Club, and the heartfelt words of the people:

“May Allah have mercy on him... truly, this news was a great shock for us and for all the Emirati people. All of the club's achievements are thanks to him. He is the one who founded us, supported us, and embraced us.”

As H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid said: “You are absent from our eyes but not from our prayers and hearts, O Ahmed.”

May his soul rest in peace. Our sincere condolences to the Al Maktoum family and to the people of the UAE.
