A citizen of London Borough Barnet trying to get the council to be more transparent and accountable. Concerned that One Barnet outsourcing is a risky strategy.
@BrokenBarnet I couldn't hear when they were calling the vote for leader but did Cllr Charli Thompson vote for Barry? With a cabinet system & Barry as leader surely that means the Tories have lost any ability to influence decisions. Cosy backroom chats and no explanations for the residents.
@russellcurtis Oh dear, when you aren't winning an argument you resort to rudeness. Your hubris is alarming especially given your role on Barnet's Quality Review Panel which determines Barnet's major planning applications. I deal in facts not personal opinions.
@russellcurtis@shinners67@_MrMustard There are 0.6 spaces per flat including car club & blue badge bays. Net result there will be an over spill of parking on local roads and there will be a consultation on a controlled parking zone which is being funded by the developer.
@russellcurtis Yet again you misrepresent the truth. The community worked hard to deliver the 371 scheme. Saying greedy is not a trope to stop new development, its an obvious and documented fact. https://t.co/HAMgjBbozD
@russellcurtis You're the only person who thinks there should be 660 homes on this site but you're right, it should have been built out 10 years ago when it got planning for 371 houses & flats but, as is often the case, greed takes over. Contrast the Berkeley Homes scheme next door 80 houses.
Yesterday I received my first local election leaflet (Reform) yet there's less than 3 wks to the vote. Not sure how people are expected to vote if they don't know the candidates or their agendas. Come on E. Barnet candidates, let's hear your plans. Found this list on LBB website.
@BrokenBarnet Just replied. Not sure it is as clear cut as they imply but suggested that if they are concerned then they should report it to Barnet's Corporate Anti Fraud Team - I have done it in the past and they act quickly.
@procurementfile On Play & Learn, it looks like it was still open after the y/e 2024/25 for which the payments were made. The Ofsted Report doesn't say when it closed. The last payment made by Barnet was in December 2025 (ยฃ2,531.88). If there's a real concern please report it to LBB CAFT Team
Bad enough that the former Tory council shut the Church Farmhouse Museum & auctioned off the collection. Now we believe the building is being sold - and so are the grounds, on the quiet, by a Labour council. Truly shocking. Object quickly if you agree, via email.
@BrokenBarnet They appear to be a Comms unit supported by some of the major builders. Not all support comments are identical but all have similar themes. The one below is an example of the weird aspect as in this application the children's play space is shockingly bad & at the absolute minimum
Developer of the High Barnet station car park has reopened consultation after a few minor tweaks but watch out as there are quite a few supporting comments which seem to be coming via https://t.co/InOM0XopvY with very similar generic/weird comments from people outside the area.
New Govt report about datacentres https://t.co/9fuNYvcEfm They consume c.2.5% of UKโs electricity & expected to rise 4-fold by 2030. Thames Water supplied 9.95 billion ltrs to 140 datacentres. Should new datacentres be built outside London closer to energy & water supplies?
@BrokenBarnet@Dan4Barnet Apparently they are still in negotiation with Barnet. I suspect we won't see that detail until they submit the planning application.
If you live in New Barnet, do try and get round to the Berkeley Homes consultation on the gasometer site. Hosted in the East Barnet Bowls Club in Victoria Rec. going on till 7.30pm this evening. 80, 2& 3 storey houses, 1.2 parking spaces per home. Affordable % still not decided.
