@KnoxieLuv Thank you! The very people telling you to be afraid of the liberals because they are socialists are trying to implement something akin to technosocialism.
😂😂 Don’t mistake me, I never called you straight.
The fact that you think me insulting you is somehow a fantasy then I officially think that you are too stupid to insult. Keep that logic in mind the next time you cherp anyone online, according to your logic - it’s actually your fantasy.
I absolutely agree with you. Here is the other kicker, it’s not just the regulation of the government that’s a problem when there are countless lobbyists who are fighting for the corporation they represent and who can therefore direct the regulation of the government. Then what interest is the government serving? What’s actually the difference between a corporation owned by the government and a government that’s owned by corporations? I think in practice, not much. Still a few at the top who make huge profits and dictate what the rest get to live of off.
Great point, I hadn’t taken consideration of that. Although seems awfully difficult to actually put into practice. I’m perhaps going to push back and say that before consumers have power, competition should have power. Let’s take for example the situation with https://t.co/RuTrfTIMps in 2009. They were a serious competitor with regards to baby products. Amazon essentially ran their baby products at a loss (which they could absorb because they hold the monopoly in the industry). Making it a no brainer for consumers, Amazon is cheaper. https://t.co/Zd3j76IqMb ended up having to sell their company to Amazon. When so much power and money exists in a few corporations, what is actually the difference between that and a form of socialism? Amazon dictates how consumers will respond by removing all competitors thereby eliminating the free market.
I agree with you. You will note that I didn’t call it capitalism. I called it neo-capitalism. The structure you described is much closer to capitalism as it was intended, but I’d argue that version is increasingly dwindling.
You could also have Dad say, “I’m not willing to pay you more than $20 because Johnny down the road is also offering to do it for $20.” That’s competition and the market setting the price.
Capitalism used to be about people making profits. Neo-capitalism increasingly feels like profits above people. And no, I’m not defending socialism either. I think the ideal is somewhere between what many European countries do and what the US does.
And, for those in the back: Europe is not socialist. Most European countries have market economies combined with substantial social-welfare systems; “social democracy” is a more appropriate description of many of those systems than socialism. And yes, the gaping holes in the European system is going to destroy Europe. Hence why I said the ideal in my opinion would be somewhere in between.
So the European version of the $20 lesson could be:
Give $2 to his sister who did nothing.
Give $2 to Grandma, who shouldn’t have to work anymore.
Give $2 to infrastructure and schools.
Give $2 to healthcare.
Give $2 to line the pockets of politicians.
Hand him his remaining $10 and tell him, “At least Grandma’s okay and your Band-Aid is free.”
The same reason that the EU countries are failing would be the same reason that a country with tiny government (as much as I would love this) would also fail. People are selfish assholes and they believe that they are owed everything and there is no checks in place to keep them from taking advantage of the system.
@Foddernugent@ksorbs I completely agree with you. That’s why I tried to make it crony. I’m against what crony capitalism (great term by the way) is currently giving us just as much as I’m against socialism
