@cazencott The coincidence is cool - but peculiar to certain examples. In general somebody using an ERM perspective and somebody with a likelihood/Bayesian perspective can easily talk past each other. This happens a lot e.g. with contextual bandits. https://t.co/tYzYTYwX0D

@cazencott Likelihood is about science: does this model explain nature? ERM is about decision making: what risk would a decision make? Beyond simple examples they differ a great deal. Even the space of states of nature and space of decision rules are typically very different.
