This Brewster 239 fighter, pictured in a revetment at Hirvas field in June 1942, was used by the leader of 4th flight of squadron LeLv 24, Iikka Torronen. He achieved 10 of his 11 aerial victories in this plane.

This Finnish Brewster 239 fighter was the normal mount of Warrant Officer Ilmari Juutilainen, who scored 28 of his 36 air-to-air victories in it. It is pictured at Immola field in April 1943

This Finnish Brewster fighter, seen over Karelia in mid 1943, was flown by Lt Hans Wind. He would score 20.5 kills in this aircraft, BW-393.

Finnish Brewster 239 fighter BW-370 was forced to ditch in a lake on May 1, 1943. The 239, designed as a carrier fighter, remained afloat and was towed to shore by men in rowboats. BW-370 was assigned at the time to Lt Aulis Lumme.

Lt Vaino Suhonen and Sgt Tapio Jarvi of Finnish fighter squadron LeLv 24 at Suulajarvi field in May 1943. These men finished the war with 19.5 and 25.5 kills respectively.

@Poilu17 @ChefDad17 Hurricanes were among the first aircraft supplied to the Soviets under lend-lease. Ironically the first batch were desert-specialized variants originally intended for North Africa, which ended up being used in the area of Archangel

Lt Joel Savonen flew for the second flight of Finnish air force squadron LeLv 24 during the Continuation War with the Soviet Union. He was one of the only reservists to rise to the position of flight leader. Eight of his nine victories were won flying the Brewster 239 fighte
