UNPOPULAR OPINION: Some gay men do not want a boyfriend. They want a man they can show off.

They want the handsome boyfriend, the muscular boyfriend, the rich boyfriend, the one who makes other people jealous.

But when that same man loses his job, gains weight, gets sick, or stops fitting the image they want to present to the world, suddenly the relationship becomes difficult.

I have seen people chase a man for his appearance and status while knowing almost nothing about his emotional needs.

Be honest: are you looking for a life partner, or are you looking for someone who makes your life look impressive?
