Police interrogation footage from 2018 shows officers from the Fontana Police Department accusing Thomas Perez Jr. of killing his father. However, Perez hadn't killed his father; in fact, his father wasn't even dead.

The officers interrogated him for 17 hours, threatened to kill his dog, and pressured him to confess to murdering his own father, who was alive, but just visiting his girlfriend at the time.

The city of Fontana, has been ordered to pay Thomas Perez Jr $898,000 in damages.

A judge said that questioning from officers had appeared to be a form of “psychological torture”.
