El dueño de Wolfi murió de una infección bacteriana en su pene. Cuando falleció, rescataron a su perro y descubrieron que había abusado sexualmente de él. De eso hace ya año y medio y Wolfi aún arrastra secuelas. "El trauma es tan grande que aún no está apto para la adopción", asegura Marga, la mujer que cuida de él en una casa de acogida animal en Mallorca.
"A nadie le gusta hablar de zoofilia, pero es algo que existe. En Dinamarca, hasta hace poco, era legal tenerlos en los burdeles y hasta esos lugares llegaban autobuses llenos de turistas. Esos animales abusados sufren igual que una mujer o un hombre", asegura Marga sin soltar la correa de Wolfi. Cuando lo recogió, apenas se le podía tocar. "No dejaba que te acercaras a su parte trasera. Aún hoy no le puedes lavar, ni cortar las uñas ni cepillar sin haberlo sedado antes, porque se pone muy agresivo", explica la cuidadora, que desde hace más de 20 años se dedica al rescate y rehabilitación de animales.
Muchos de esos perros son rescatados de casas donde se practica la prostitución. Aunque en los clubes de alterne están prohibidos, en las viviendas suelen tener animales por si algún cliente lo solicita para mantener sexo. Elena, ex prostituta, asegura que es algo habitual, aunque a veces son las propias mujeres las que consiguen salvarlos de los abusos: "Recuerdo una noche, un hombre pagó para acostarse con todas las chicas de la casa. Cuando se cansó de nosotras, se enteró de que el chófer tenía un perrito y lo pidió para tener sexo. Nos negamos y conseguimos que no abusara de él. Al final se conformó con que el perro estuviera presente mientras se seguía acostando con nosotras".
Los perros utilizados para prácticas zoofílicas pueden presentar laceraciones en el pene, desgarros anales y vaginales. "Hay veces que hay que intervenir quirúrgicamente los desgarros, pero el tratamiento es sobre todo emocional. Puede que no se lleguen a recuperar nunca de las secuelas psicológicas. Algunos llegan a morir por estrés", explica la veterinaria Marta Gallego, que matiza que estamos ante una situación de "violencia, de dominancia, que genera mucha ansiedad a nivel emocional. Hay un sometimiento, y a los animales les ocurre como a las personas. Mucha gente no entiende que sienten y padecen igual que los humanos".

La veterinaria también recuerda el sufrimiento de las hembras de orangután que son prostituidas. Las depilan y les pintan los labios para poder explotarlas sexualmente, una práctica común en algunos países de Asia.
"No es accidental, es algo premeditado, es una perversión. No hay culpabilidad ni remordimientos ante estos actos depravados. El problema es que el abuso sexual animal está infradiagnosticado porque sólo nos llegan los que están muy mal", asegura Gallego.

Aunque la zoofilia está tipificada en España como delito en el artículo 337 del Código Penal, según el abogado especialista Francisco Capacete "los animales están bastante desprotegidos en nuestro país. Nuestro CP castiga la explotación sexual de animales, el problema es demostrarla. Si no hay lesiones importantes y tampoco pruebas, como grabación de vídeo, es casi imposible demostrarlo en un juicio". Si a consecuencia de la explotación sexual se producen "desgarros o lesiones importantes, aunque no pueda demostrarse la zoofilia, se podría condenar por maltrato animal".
