Yoo Hong-jun, Director of the National Museum of Korea, congratulated RM at the appointment ceremony, saying it is meaningful to be able to share the beauty of Korean cultural heritage with the world together with RM, and expressed his expectation that RM will play a major role in establishing the National Museum of Korea as a museum loved by people around the world.

RM said: "I am very happy," adding: "I will do my best to ensure that the beauty and value of our cultural heritage are conveyed to more people."

RM has consistently shown a special interest in Korean traditional culture and art, donating 100 million won to the Overseas Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation under the Cultural Heritage Administration in 2021 and 2022, requesting that the funds be used to preserve, restore, and utilize cultural heritage abroad. He also collects various artworks and is scheduled to hold a special exhibition of his personal collection at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) in October this year.
