IE edit today says that “ the Indian security establishment in Delhi should stop viewing Europe through Russian eyes”. This is an ill digested throw away line.
India has never done that. Russia has never tried to interfere in our ties with Europe or shape our thinking and policies towards it.
We do not see Europe through Russian lens.
It is Europe that has after the Ukraine conflict wanted us to look at Russia through their eyes.
France, even before Russia, established a strategic dialogue with us after our nuclear tests.
Germany has allowed human rights issues to affect their ties with India. Our problems with UK over Pakistan, Kashmir, Khalistanis etc have nothing to do with our ties with Russia.

Hi Swasti - the article referred extensively to the relationship between foreign powers - namely China, India and Russia - and Bangladesh. What we know is that some news channels reported an Indian source saying that China and Pakistan were behind it, when in fact all the evidence collected over years points to the US. It’s not a theory, but a reality. It’s as much a theory as the US triggering Arab Spring protests or the Maidan color revolution, except with more tangible evidence.

Hasina was pragmatic and independent minded, since Bangladesh was a sovereign state. But on pressing issues, she was understanding. It is impossible to work with radicals to contain radicalism. She was the best and perhaps only bet help crack down on terrorism. Could she have managed Bangladesh better? Sure. But backing her is one thing and interfering in her daily activities is another, and India would have refrained from the latter.

Anti-India sentiment was fanned by anti-Hindu people like Pinaki Bhattacharya, who were backed and hosted by Western nations. The India Out campaign was engineered as part of the regime change operation to whip up sentiment. This has had a direct impact on the Hindu community. To absolve the US and UK of their role in encouraging anti-Hindu violence through their Islamist proxies would not serve the truth.

As for RELOS, I can imagine that both the US and China would express concerns to India and Russia respectively, for different reasons. That does not mean India and Russia cannot cooperate in for example, Myanmar. They can be mutually exclusive matters.

Not a word about US involvement and Washington’s desire for a building a base in St Martin’s. Claims India should have backed other elements in Bangladesh, knowing full well it is next to impossible given that many are Pakistan’s proxies. India did work with the military, the closest third power center, which proved to fall under US influence when push came to shove.

The article also states that an exodus of Bangladeshi Hindus would destabilize the border, but there is no mention of the potential risks posed by the illegal influx of radical Islamists - both Bangladeshi and Rohingya.

The article cannot end without sniping at Russia. It labels Russia as effectively a Chinese proxy when in fact, Moscow is the only party which India can potentially work with to stabilize parts of Myanmar. This could contain undue US influence in India’s back yard while also keeping a check on any plans to trigger insurgencies in the North East.

Hi Swasti - this is my final reply since my points have not been addressed either appropriately or to my satisfaction, and goal posts have been consistently moved.

Independent analysts do not act like mouthpieces for media channels that cite anonymous government sources which deflect blame to China and Pakistan. Gaslighting people by claiming the truth to be a sensationalist conspiracy theory shows exactly which side the bread is buttered.

I have stated that there is overwhelming evidence that the US is involved. Be it sanctions on Awami League members to claims that Yunus is a democratic choice, the narrative has been clear for long. My points on Pinaki and others were not addressed. A simple internet search will pull up the statements made by the US and show the connections between regime change actors and Washington.

This piece referred to foreign involvement more broadly in Bangladesh so it would be unfair not to discuss what stares one in the face - regime change.

The “hook” of the article is effectively about blaming India for not finding favor with radical Islamists. In reality, there was not other real alternative to Hasina. It was obvious that India’s political options were limited. India’s economic investments and leverage have grown in recent years to offset the structural weaknesses in political influence. There is no mention of this.

You brought up RELOS to counter my point on the potential value of India-Russia collaboration in Myanmar. I never said it was shelved. I said there would have been concerns about optics.

The “work you do” is clear. Twist what others say, gaslight, deceive and set a narrative. While wearing the mask of a nationalist, some analysts push the line of Western countries. It is time to call a spade a spade.

This is wrong time to try any Peace initiatives in Ukraine . The US and NATO have used the ploy of Peace talks three times to make a fool of Russia and use the time gained to plan new offensives. They used the most recent peace talks moves to prepare the attack on Kursk. The US and NATO are determined to fight Russia to the last Ukranian. All the while they are arming and preparing to fight Russia Directly in next 3- 5 years. Russia has been exercising amazing levels of restraint and hoping against hope that cease fire and peace talks will Work. Unfortunately they have been taken for a ride each time. Russia will have no option but to mobilise and do something BIG if it wants peace. otherwise it may just have to go on fighting for the next 5-10 years. Europe is a mad continent. They had WW I and II and are now thirsting to start WW III.
