Depression is a mental illness that refuses to discriminate. Whether we like to admit it or not, depression is a serious issue that could hit anyone at any given time for any given reason.

While cognitive therapy helps young adults identify beliefs that are holding them back, taking a mindfulness approach gives them a new perspective and helps them to develop more self-awareness and cognitive flexibility.

Adventure and Recreation is just one of many approaches in Red Mountain’s suite of healing modalities. It represents one more way in which RMS exceeds the standards for programs of its type and goes beyond expectations to support our students.

Healing the entire family system is a crucial factor in ensuring that the changes your child makes continue after graduation. In addition to the family therapy with your child’s therapist, we also provide a weekly parent coaching session.

The full integration of the Red Mountain program helps our students to develop a very specific area of the brain (the insula), which regulates behavior and choices.

#OurProgramWorks#WhyItWorks
As we headed into our ninth year we wanted to delve into WHY our program works so well. Here's what Maureen and Josh had to say:
#OurProgram#MindfulnessSkills
For over eight years we at Red Mountain have been helping young adults with our mindfulness forward programming, supported of course by our cutting-edge therapy, executive functioning skill development, and excellent peer culture.
#MindfulnessForward#OurProgram
The practice of mindfulness allows our students more choice, more control over behavior, more authenticity, less reactivity, less impulsiveness, and more ability to reflect and see how the outcome of their choices will affect their lives.
#mindfulnesspractice#authenticself
For over eight years, over the course of working with over 500 students and their families, we came to monks beyond the shadow of a doubt that the Red Mountain approach is different- and that it works.
Students have reported an increase in confidence, balance, and peace, with better self-discipline and a decrease in impulsivity. They have a greater sense of inner peace, and even improved sleep quality, which in itself is essential to healing.
